Committee and Forum Group Descriptions

Infrastructure
The primary focus of the Infrastructure Committee is to serve as a network to monitor York County’s infrastructure network; roads, signage, air, rail, utilities, telecommunication and technology.  When appropriate this Committee can serve as a liaison with other city, county, state or federal agencies.

Recruitment
The primary focus of the Recruitment Committee is to be a contact point for businesses wishing to relocate, expand, or start in York County.  This Committee will work with information gleaned from past and ongoing “Targeted Industry” studies and coordinate with the Marketing Committee on proper contact with existing York County businesses or facilities and may serve as a resource for visits with companies seeking to do business or expand their presence in York County.  The Chairman of the Recruitment Committee will serve as a member of the Executive Committee and will work with the Executive Committee and other members in the completion of necessary duties.

Membership
The Membership Committee conducts personal visitations to current members and potentially new members (businesses and individuals) of the York County Development Corp (YCDC).  This group may work with the Director of YCDC and/or the Nebraska Department of Economic Development in making visits to businesses to assess their needs and wants.

Marketing
The Marketing Committee is responsible for the promotion of York County and the York County Development Corporation (YCDC) within the current membership and externally to potential businesses and site consultants.  The Committee will work to see that appropriate contact/support information is developed for dissemination to interested parties.  The Committee will also oversee electronic media and print based information to see that the information shown is current and meets the Mission of the YCDC.  The Committee may also work with the Executive Committee in identifying available sites and buildings for business relocation and expansion and to see that those sites and the site information is available to potential and existing businesses in York County.  The Chairman of the Marketing Committee will serve as a member of the Executive Committee and will work with the Executive Committee and other members in the completion of necessary duties.

Value-Added Ag. Committee
This Committee will identify and research industries and processes that will add value to York County’s agricultural enterprises.  The group will work with municipal, county and state governmental units to encourage the development and facilitate the expansion of agricultural enterprises in York County.  The Committee may also work in the identification of potential sites for agricultural enterprises in York County and will work in conjunction with the Marketing Committee in publicizing these available sites.

Funding-Executive Committee
This Committee will research, identify and develop sources of revenue for the York County Development Corp. (YCDC).  Members of this Committee and the Executive Committee will make calls on governmental units and members for the funding of existing, new and future York County business projects and for the ongoing operation of the YCDC.

Safety Committee
This forum is comprised of safety directors from area businesses that meet on an ongoing basis for training and the exchange of information concerning safety and the workplace in York County businesses.

Industry Council
This council is comprised of upper level management of industries with a presence in York County.  This Council meets occasionally for training, to discuss topics of interest and concern to the industries involved and to determine trends that require the attention of the York County Development Corp.

Housing
This forum works with existing agencies in collecting information regarding on-going housing projects in the area.  The goal of this group is the coordination of the various public as well as private housing committees in the community with realtors, financial institutions and interested citizens toward the goal of improving the housing availability and housing stock throughout the County.

Crossroads Rural Entrepreneur Network (CREN)-REAP
This is a group formed to assist beginning business and entrepreneurs interested in starting their own businesses in all types of training.

Workforce Development Council
This forum brings together human resources (HR) directors and others interested in maintaining and increasing the talents of York County’s workforce.  Another objective is putting together job seekers with employers by utilizing career and job fairs within the County.
