Prairie Gardens - 4-unit independent living complex
Prairie Garden Estates, an independent living facility, is for individuals wishing to "scale down," yet enjoy the pleasures of home ownership without the stress.  The four units are fully maintenance free for the owner, with a wide variety of services, the right to live in these homes is purchased by the occupant.  Included is: attached garage with automatic opener, energy efficient construction, landscaped yard with sprinkler system, window treatments and floor coverings, kitchen appliance package, washer and dryer, oak woodwork throughout, and cathedral ceiling in living room.  A monthly service agreement covers snow removal, lawn care, taxes, transportation, an urgency call system, total maintenance coverage, and other services.

The Midtown Apartments are subsidized one bedroom apartments primarily for the elderly, but open to any age renter.  There is one unit that is handicapped accessible.  All utilities are included in the rent except telephone, cable and internet access.  Each unit is equipped with a range and refrigerator.  There is a community room available to residents along with free laundry facilities.  Pets are permitted, however there is an additional deposit.  Additional charges also apply for extra appliances such as freezers, extra televisions and space heaters.

Elderly/Disabled

One hundred six units for elderly, handicapped, and disabled individuals comprise this complex.  Managed by the York Housing Authority, ranges, refrigerators, garbage pickup, water and sewer utilities, and electricity are provided in the monthly rental fee.  Disposals are available in some units.  Coin-operated laundry and community room on site.  Pets may be allowed for additional fees.  Cable services are available at lower rates.

Seven market rate units available for individuals 62 years of age and older.  Range, refrigerator, garbage disposal, and garbage pickup included.  Coin-operated laundry, garages, and community room are available.

The Court – 123 Meadow View Drive - 402.362.1444
The Court is a HUD government-subsidized housing project for the low-income elderly or handicapped.  The 26-unit facility offers 16 large, one-bedroom apartments, seven efficiency apartments and three handicapped accessible units.  All kitchen appliances are furnished.  Each apartment comes with a large pantry for storage.  In addition, The Court has an on-site, coin-operated laundry facility.  The handicapped accessible apartments are designed specifically for those confined to a wheelchair.  These apartments offer a widened hallway and doorways, lowered cabinets and closet shelving, and a handicapped shower area with retractable bench.  All units have exterior entrances to the apartment.

The Place – 215 Meadow View Drive - 402.362.1444
The Place is a USDA Rural Development subsidized housing project for low to moderate income elderly.  This 20-unit facility offers 19 large, one-bedroom apartments and one handicapped-accessible unit.  All kitchen appliances are furnished.  Each apartment also comes with a large pantry and closet storage.  The handicapped accessible apartment is specifically designed for those confined to a wheelchair.  This apartment offers a widened hallway and doorways, a range top stove, refrigerator, lowered cabinets and closet shelving, and a handicapped shower area with retractable bench.

All units have interior entrances to the apartment.  The Place also has two on-site, coin-operated laundry facilities.  The campus beauty shop is located in this building.
Both facilities have a community room with a full kitchen that can be used for monthly potluck suppers, luncheons and other activities.  They are also used for crafts or hobbies, such as quilting, puzzles, etc.  The rooms may also be reserved for family get-togethers or other personal events.
