Henderson Health Care is a nonprofit, community-based health care network located in the heart of rural Nebraska. We take pride in continually bringing new and innovative care and services to our facilities while preserving the traditions of patient-centered care that have characterized our philosophy for more than 65 years. Henderson Health Care encourages wellness, provides exceptional medical care and offers long term living alternatives for area residents. Henderson Health Care owns and operates Henderson Community Hospital, Henderson Family Clinic, Henderson Care Center (nursing home), Rosewood Court (assisted living), and Prairie Garden Estates (independent living) and Sutton Family Practice Clinic in Sutton, Nebraska.
Henderson Community Hospital’s main services include Acute Care/Emergency, Inpatient/Observation, Outpatient, Surgical Services and Swing Bed Services. The Henderson Health Care Emergency Department is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, providing comprehensive emergency medical treatment. We are equipped and staffed to handle all medical emergencies, including trauma and cardiac care. e-Emergency improves outcomes for emergency patients by linking the emergency room staff to a remote multidisciplinary team, specialty trained in emergency medicine. eEmergency offers immediate access to an emergency physician, supporting the nursing staff before our local physician arrives in the ER. Reducing time between patient care and physician access allows for faster diagnosis and treatment, translating into improved recoveries and lives saved. eEmergency supports the nursing staff by providing a resource that can assist with arranging transfers, making necessary calls to on-call staff, and completing real time documentation as care is delivered. eEmergency can help with physician retention as our providers must cover the ER 24-hours a day, seven days a week. eEmergency relieves some of the tedium of overnight call, acts as a resource for our mid-levels so ultimately it brings a physician in only in cases of true emergency.
Henderson Health Care’s Support Services include: Care Management/Social Services, Diagnostic Imaging, Lab Services, Nutritional Counseling, Other Diagnostic Testing and Pharmacy. At Henderson Health Care, the care management (social services) staff is an important part of the health care team. Our patient resource manager advocates for the care and discharge plan of patients every day, taking into account the patient and family’s needs and situation. They also make sure the physical, emotional and health care needs of every patient are met both while in the hospital and after discharge. In addition to helping prepare for discharge from Henderson Health Care, our patient resource manager is available to assist patients and their families with problems that may accompany an extended illness or disability. To help coordinate the recommendations made by your health care team, a member of the case management (social services) department will work with – and for – you and your family. Your case manager will help you make arrangements for medical, physical and emotional needs you may have as your care is continued in other settings. Your doctor will authorize your discharge and write a discharge order in your patient chart. Discharge plans will be discussed with you by your doctor, nurse or care manager. The Henderson Health Care pharmacy is committed to providing quality pharmaceutical care. As a recipient of the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust grant awarded in 2013, HHC has installed a Pyxis med dispenser and ePharmacy services. The ePharmacy service provides HHC with 24/7 access to hospital-trained pharmacists making it possible for every medication order to be reviewed and approved prior to administration to patients under observation, patients in the hospital and skilled care patients. Expert health care and experienced specialists are right in your own backyard. Henderson Health Care has gathered the finest physicians from surrounding regions to service all of your needs — without the distance, the wait and the worry you might otherwise encounter. Henderson Health Care partners with much-needed experts, available by appointment though our clinics throughout the week. Specialty Clinics include Cardiac Services, Oncology, Orthopedics, Pulmonology, Surgery, Neurosurgery, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynocology and Podiatry.
Henderson Health Care operates two full-service rural health clinics, Henderson Family Care and Sutton Family Practice. Both clinics are open full-time and staffed by our three providers on a rotating basis. One of the most important things you can do for your health is establish a relationship with a primary care provider. Your family doctor helps you prevent illness, manage health conditions and make good decisions that foster healthy living. Primary care physicians may also refer you to specialists who can address more specific health needs. Services vary slightly between locations and generally include: primary care, urgent care, family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics, child and adolescent care, women’s and men’s health, lab work, imaging, physical exams, flu shots, vaccinations and more.
