Residents of York County, Nebraska have access to some of the finest K-12 educational systems in the country. The County is covered by 9 different institutions and offers a mixture of public & private education. Schools serving York County include:


Higher Education

York, Nebraska is home to York College, a private liberal arts college founded in 1890 affiliated with the Churches of Christ. York College, which offers 25 Bachelors Degree programs and 9 pre-professional degree programs, is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of the Nebraska Independent College Foundation. The York College Panthers compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division II and the National Christian College Athletic Association. Besides sports teams, the college also offers students a wide variety of extracurricular activities.

Southeast Community College opened a York Regional Learning Center (YRLC) campus in 2016.  This campus will be focused on industry and buisness needs, and will offer a variety of credit and non-credit classes.  The YRLC will continue to expand as class needs are identified. Southeast Community College is a public institution of higher education serving the 15-county area of southeast Nebraska. SCC awards the Associate of Applied Science degree, Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Science degree, the Diploma, and Certificate. SCC has a tremendous reputation with employers, both local and regional. More than 90 percent of SCC graduates find work or transfer to a four-year college or university. SCC also is one of the most affordable higher education options in Nebraska.  SCC has full-service campus locations in Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford.

Career Pathways

School districts in York County are committed to following the Career Pathway mode where careers are organized in six career fields. The six fields include the 16 Career Clusters, which group careers that involve similar work.  Find more informaiton here.  Each school district has developeled Career Acadamies to provides education along a chosen career pathway.  All schools also participate in the Regional Job Fair and Career Day exposing students to business panels and over 60 businesses from the region.
