Celebrating the role of manufacturing

Monday, May 15, 2017

“Manufacturing is more than just putting parts together. It's coming up with ideas, testing principles and perfecting the engineering, as well as final assembly.” ~James Dyson

In recent years, U.S. manufacturing has been hard hit by the international economy. But James Dyson’s quote touches on the vital role manufacturing will continue to play. The sector has long provided good jobs and wages across the country. Nebraska’s growing manufacturing sector now includes more than 1,900 manufacturers and employs nearly 100,000 workers. The sector contributes about $14 billion to Nebraska’s total economic output each year (compared to just over $8 billion a decade ago).

This past October, for the third year in a row, YCDC joined the nation in celebrating Manufacturing Day through our educator tours, a tour of Cyclonaire with Lt. Governor Mike Foley, and a Salute to Manufactures Business After Hours featuring Lt. Governor Mike Foley.
