Lisa Hurley with YCDC attended the Mid-America Economic Development Council's Competitiveness Conference & Site Selector Forum, a 3-day conference in Chicago.  This is one of the best Midwest events in identifying how communities and economic development organizations can position themselves in a competitive and global market.   The event identified there are many opportunities for Midwest communities, but the community has to have a plan for working with workforce recruitment, a strategic plan, prepared sites and a clear and professional marketing message.  These are messages that effect both the growth of our existing industries and recruitment efforts.

Seminars Lisa attended included:  Advanced Location Marketing, Communicating Your Business Advantages; The Economic Outlook for the Mid-American Economy, Opportunities and Threats; Trends in Foreign Direct Investment; Corporate Real Estate Panel; Site Selector Panel; a Logistics and Distribution round-table with Deane Foote with Foote Consulting Group LLC; Readiness as Your Competitive Advantage; and E-Commerce & Its Impact on Economic Development.
