Using conferences for trendwatching in economic development
1 Jun 2015
How will our rapidly aging population affect which goods and services need to be offered locally? How will the values of our technologically-driven youth lead the way for new businesses? How might York County’s business sector need to respond to changes in the climate?
Staying on top of trends is important to economic development. One of the ways the York County Development Corporation engages in trendwatching is through attending various trade shows and conferences, including the International Economic Development Council’s Leadership Conference, the Nebraska Economic Developers Association’s annual conference, and the annual FABTECH trade show. Not only does YCDC use these events to keep up-to-date on the latest economic development trends, it takes these opportunities to market York County to other attendees, and build relationships with people across the nation.
