Strengthening YCDC’s weak ties for the good of York County
6 Jul 2015
Mark Granovetter, the American sociologist who examined the effects of social networks in his influential 1973 paper “The Strength of Weak Ties,” suggests that it is our relationships to acquaintances that are most likely to bring us new work opportunities. https://sociology.stanford.edu/sites/default/files/publications/the_strength_of_weak_ties_and_exch_w-gans.pdf
The York County Development Corporation puts Granovetter’s social network theory into practice by attending conferences and trade shows. Through these events, we establish and maintain numerous business and development acquaintances, creating relationships that will open York County to future opportunities.
