Cultivating youth entrepreneurship

11 Jul 2016

Did you know that the rate of unemployment for Americans ages 16-24 is more than double the rate of unemployment for all age groups? That’s a significant problem, and likely contributes to the high rates of Millennials still living with their parents.

In York County Nebraska, 22 percent of our citizens are under the age of 18, which means we need to tackle this problem head-on and ensure our youth are prepared for employment opportunities and thinking towards the future. In the summer of 2016, the York County Development Corporation, York Chamber and York Public Schools are partnering together to facilitate a youth entrepreneurship camp. This camp helps plant the seed that students can become business owners. The 2016 camp is scheduled for July 11-16th.

The camp will give kids a taste of the hands-on skills needed to run a successful business in today’s economy. In this innovative camp, they’ll learn to develop a product, a business, and a marketing plan. For more information, contact YCDC:

Stop downtown York to visit the student businesses on Saturday, July 11th, 8am-11am.
