Economic development efforts often revolve around recruiting large corporations to an area or helping start up companies. Clearly, such efforts are important, but they neglect existing small businesses.
Established, small businesses are the real backbone of the economy. Since 1990, big businesses have eliminated 4 million jobs, while small businesses added 8 million new jobs. That’s why YCDC has a special program to help existing businesses grow.
