Making education accessible and responsive

26 Dec 2016

It’s tough to get a good job these days with a high school diploma. But a four-year college degree isn’t a guarantee either. College tuition is expensive and can cause students to accumulate debt that will take years to pay off.

Community colleges and technical schools offer a practical alternative. As part of a five-year strategic plan, Southeast Community College is creating education and training sites in multiple areas around the state of Nebraska. The idea is to expand services and programs based not just on student needs but also on employer needs and community demand.

In April 2016, SCC opened the York Learning Center (SCC YRL) located at the Holthus Convention Center. Credit and leisure classes are available as well as workforce training.  SCC YRL has been offering contract training to businesses, credit and noncredit classes, and continues to identify additional training opportunities.  Find out more about this wonderful area resource. http://ow.ly/k0U4303WCro
