Vice President for Student Life/Dean of Students
The Vice President for Student Life/Dean of Students serves York College by creating a strategic plan that provides an outstanding student experience for each student. York College is a small Christian college affiliated with the churches of Christ and is located in York, NE. We serve approximately 450 undergraduate students and 200 online graduate students. We are proud that our student body is one of the most diverse campuses in the state. Focused on student success, excellence, faith development, and cultural competence, the Vice President for Student Life will lead and serve Student Life towards fulfilling York’s mission to transform students through a Christ-centered education.
The Student Life area is comprised of: Residence Life, Student Conduct, Student Activities, Student Government, Counseling Services, Chapel Attendance, Title IX, Greek Life, New Student Orientation, Student Care, Service Day, and Student Leadership Development.
Working Relationships:
Reports to the President of York College.
Work Schedule:
Standard working hours plus nights and weekend as needed.

Responsibilities
Develop a comprehensive student life program.
Implement a redemptive discipline model which holds students accountable for campus expectations and strives to find redemptive actions when possible through the disciplinary process.
Collaborate with departmental staff regarding student discipline processes and procedures.
Create student policies and continue to update the student handbooks as needed.
Partner with departments across campus to achieve student success.
Oversee all Student Life departments, programs, and groups.
Lead and mentor staff and students.
Forecast, develop and manage departmental budgets.
Participate as a member of the President’s Senior Leadership Team.
Qualifications
Supportive of York’s mission and core values, commitment to an active and thriving Christian lifestyle, and demonstration of character in keeping with biblical models.
Bachelor’s degree in related field required, masters preferred.
5+ years of proven experience in education, higher education, student development, or leadership.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proven success designing and implementing a strategic vision.
