PRIMARY PURPOSE AND FUNCTION The Vice President Operations plans, directs and coordinates the operations of the organization. This person is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency and profitability of their departments and the greater organization. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Coordination and Supervision - Coordinate, manage and monitor the workings of various departments in the organization. Financial - Review financial statements and data. Utilize financial data to improve profitability. Prepare and control operational budgets. Control inventory. Plan effective strategies for the financial wellbeing of the company. Human Resources - Plan the use of human resources. Organize recruitment and placement of required staff. Establish organizational structures. Delegate tasks and accountabilities. Establish work schedules. Supervise staff. Monitor and evaluate performance. Safety/Quality Assurance - Work with safety and quality departments to ensure departments are developing proper programs and that the programs are being adhered to. Review safety and quality documentation and ensure that manuals and work instructions are accurate and complete. IT - Manage the company's IT department. Ensure proper staffing. Manage the relationship with our managed service provider (MSP). Ensure that our network environment is properly functioning, scaled for growth and protected from attack. Maintenance - Work with the maintenance department to plan maintenance on machines and facility. Procure parts and ensure parts are delivered on time. Work with 3rd party providers to maintain machines. Plan for future maintenance and personnel needs. Communication - Monitor, manage and improve the efficiency of support services such as IT, HR, Accounts and Finance. Facilitate coordination and communication between support functions. Best Practices - Improve processes and policies in support of organizational goals. Formulate and implement departmental and organizational policies and procedures to maximize output. Monitor adherence to rules, regulations, and procedures. Strategic Input - Liaison with top management. Assist in the development of strategic plans for operational activity. Implement and manage operational plans. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES Education College degree in business administration, commerce, management, industrial technology or industrial engineering 5-7 years related experience and 2+ years previous manager level leadership experience preferred. Industry relevant production experience Knowledge and experience in organizational effectiveness and operations management Knowledge of business and management principles and practices Knowledge of financial and accounting principles and practices Knowledge of human resource principles and practices Knowledge of project management principles and practices Strong analytical skills, ability to gather, interpret and analyze information, provide clear direction.
