Higher Education

York, Nebraska is home to York University, a private liberal arts college founded in 1890 affiliated with the Churches of Christ. The college focuses on educating, equipping and engaging students while they explore their faith and obtain a deeper understanding of the world around them. York University offers more than 25 majors and concentrations including several master’s degrees available online. Outside of the wide variety of academic majors, the university also offers 18 athletic programs and several extracurricular activities. The York University Panthers compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Division I and the National Christian College Athletic Association. The university is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Southeast Community College opened a York Regional Learning Center (YRLC) campus in 2016.  This campus will be focused on industry and business needs, and will offer a variety of credit and non-credit classes.  The YRLC will continue to expand as class needs are identified. Southeast Community College is a public institution of higher education serving the 15-county area of southeast Nebraska. SCC awards the Associate of Applied Science degree, Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Science degree, the Diploma, and Certificate. SCC has a tremendous reputation with employers, both local and regional. More than 90 percent of SCC graduates find work or transfer to a four-year college or university. SCC also is one of the most affordable higher education options in Nebraska.  SCC has full-service campus locations in Beatrice, Lincoln and Milford.
