Talent Initiatives
Student Targeted Initiatives:
- 17 County Leadership Program First class started in January 2021. Participants meet for three, four-hour sessions as a group to improve their leadership skills and connect with other rising leaders in the county. Participants will also be involved in three one-on-one leadership coaching calls to evaluate their strengths in the workplace and community and complete a 360-degree leadership evaluation.
- Regional Career Day (Started in 2014 and brings businesses and students from 8-12 schools together)
- York University Career Fair offers an easy way for students to connect with local employers
- York University Workshops such as our Employer Round Table connect students with resources, local employers, and career development opportunities
- Manufacturing Month
- Industry Tours YCDC works with our manufacturing collaboration and our school superintendents to visit schools to talk with targeted students about the various opportunities in manufacturing.
- School Visits - Manufacturing Panel YCDC coordinates a panel of local manufacturers to talk about their career path, workplace, and manufacturing as a whole.

- Social Media Promotions (continuing to expand with new campaigns and content)

- New Year, New Career offers a confidential way for job seekers to hear about available jobs
- York County Fair Hiring Booth promotes a multitude of available jobs in York County in one easy location.
- Resource Connections to local and state agencies such as Nebraska Department of Labor, involvement opportunities, etc.
- Employ York works to identify barriers to hiring and inform employers about tools available to limit the effects of obstacles.
- NDOL Traveling Office YCDC works with the Nebraska Department of Labor to set up meetings with businesses and individuals to meet their needs.
Committees and Involvement:
- YCDC Sits on York Public Schools JAG Advisory Programand the State-wide Advisory Committee for Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) is a resiliency-building workforce preparation program that helps students learn in-demand employability skills and provides a bridge to post-secondary education and career advancement opportunities.
- Nebraska State Talent Committee
- Housing Initiatives and Partnershipssuch as Southeast Nebraska Development District, Southeast Nebraska Affordable Housing Council, and others.
- Childcare Steering Committee gives the business community a say in the forward movement of childcare efforts
- York County Kids Board works to expand the quality and capacity of childcare in York County
- Southeast Manufacturing Alliance works to address the talent pipeline within the manufacturing industry
- Partnerships with Local and Regional Educational Facilities such as York University, Southeast Community College, and Regional High Schools
