YCDC provides economic development services to York County, Nebraska. It helps existing businesses grow, supports new companies moving into the area, and works with residents to grow their careers. Its community development efforts provide new opportunities for the people of York County and help make it a wonderful place to live.  

YCDC helps local businesses find incentives and tax opportunities to make operations more affordable. It also assists with hiring by connecting companies with workforce development partners. YCDC also supports local career development programs to help companies upskill their current workforce. Its talent-attraction efforts also expand the hiring pool. 

York County offers an affordable option for businesses in a great location. Companies can reach either coast of the United States with York County’s strategic location in the heart of Nebraska. York County also has a growing talent pool as more people move here. This makes it easier to hire qualified candidates and train them to succeed in lasting careers. There are currently open commercial spaces available for development, making moving to York County easier than ever. 

Yes. YCDC supports existing businesses and entrepreneurs in York County, while also helping companies expand to this part of Nebraska. YCDC can assist businesses with site selection, help them meet with utility partners, and identify state and local incentives. YCDC also has a talent attraction campaign to bring people to York County. This makes it easier for companies to hire top candidates. 

Housing is an important part of economic development, and YCDC works to attract developers to the region. When companies build houses, apartments, and townhomes, more people can find their ideal lodging in York County. This supports talent-attraction efforts, as more people can move to York County or stay here. While YCDC isn’t responsible for building homes, the organization supports housing construction.  

Yes. YCDC supports businesses of all sizes in York County. Its SPARK Pitch Contest helps entrepreneurs get noticed and potentially receive funding for their business ideas. Other career development programs help startup founders learn new skills that can help their businesses thrive. YCDC also shares tax credits and incentives with small businesses that could make their operations more affordable. 

YCDC supports workforce development in several ways. It shares job opportunities with potential employees, including its New Year, New Career packets. YCDC also invests in programs to support job development year-round. Both the 17-County Leadership program and the Dale Carnegie courses help residents grow. YCDC even works with the next generation by hosting university job fairs to help students launch their careers.  

York County welcomes businesses of all industries, but is a leader in a few key industrial areas. Agricultural manufacturing businesses have a lot of success here because they work closely with local farmers. Automation and metal fabrication companies have also thrived in York County. YCDC believes that project fit matters and works closely with companies moving to the area to help them succeed.  

York County is a great option for anyone who wants a rural lifestyle. There are plenty of community events to make friends and spend time with others, but ample space and a low cost of living. Many people choose to live in York County because of its smaller population. People know each other and help where they can. Nebraska is known for its high quality of life, and York County is a leader amongst local communities. 

17-County is a podcast created by YCDC that introduces listeners to businesses and community groups throughout York County. Two episodes are published each month, and podcast guests also receive free professional headshots. As of Summer 2026, there are more than 150 published episodes and more than 39,000 downloads.

Stakeholders are business leaders and passionate individuals who want to see the community grow. They invest annually in YCDC to support its economic development efforts. Stakeholders contribute based on what they can afford and receive benefits such as recognition on the 17-County podcast.
