In celebration of National Manufacturing Day and month, the York County Development Corporation (YCDC) hosted two impactful events to highlight the vibrant manufacturing sector in our region.
First, on October 4, 2024, YCDC’s Annual Manufacturing Day Tours took local high school upperclassmen and community leaders behind the scenes at three of York County's leading manufacturers: Farmer’s Cooperative, Collins Aerospace, and Green Plains. These tours offered attendees a unique look at the manufacturing processes, career pathways, and innovative technologies driving these industries forward. "National Manufacturing Day is a great time to spotlight the diverse career opportunities available here in York County," said Lisa Hurley, Executive Director at YCDC. "We’re thrilled to connect students with the innovative world of manufacturing."
Then, later in the week, YCDC organized Manufacturing School Visits, where representatives from Klute Inc., Collins Aerospace, Cyclonaire Corporation, and Corteva Agriscience brought their industry expertise directly into schools. Through engaging discussions, they shared insights on what a career in manufacturing can look like, sparking interest and excitement among students.
A big thank you goes to the participating schools—York Public Schools, Heartland Community Schools Henderson/Bradshaw, McCool Junction Public School, and York University—for their partnership and enthusiasm, as well as to the manufacturers for their commitment to inspiring the next generation of talent.
Additionally, we invite everyone to check out our recent update article on Klute Inc., which highlights their most recent expansion.
YCDC is grateful for the support of our local schools and employers, whose involvement in both events demonstrates a shared dedication to building a stronger, more connected community.
