YCDC is focused on economic development 24/7/365. Our objective is to find new ways to promote York County as the ideal destination for investments and life! Though the efforts are ongoing, May is an excellent time to take a step back and recognize YCDC’s efforts and the efforts of the community overall. Together, we are gaining attention for York County and creating opportunities for businesses and residents.

National Economic Development Week is May 9th - 15th

We shine a light on economic development activities in May to coincide with National Economic Development Week (EDW) - May 9th to 15th. The International Economic Development Council (IEDC) created EDW in 2016 to help increase awareness of local programs that create jobs, advance career development opportunities and improve the quality of life in communities everywhere.

EDW is a chance to recognize economic developers, the local leaders and organizations who work tirelessly to recruit investors, develop businesses, create jobs, enhance the tax base and ultimately improve the quality of life of their communities. Creating this awareness is important because many people aren’t aware of economic development or what YCDC does. For example, did you know that YCDC does the following:

  • Help businesses with workforce recruitment through job fairs, online job directory, and other activities
  • Respond to RFPs from site selectors and companies looking to relocate
  • Promote York County and York County businesses and trade shows and events
  • Provide free educational opportunities to local businesses and professionals
  • Promote available sites and buildings
  • National Economic Development WeekTell the “Why York County” story on multiple platforms, including video, podcasts and articles
  • Help new and expanding businesses to secure incentives and financing
  • Develop and/or partner on talent initiatives
  • Connect talent with local employers
  • Promote York County as an incredible place to live and actively recruit new residents
  • Collaborate with local partners to get things done for the community
  • Work to solve challenges and remove any obstacles facing our business community
  • Support community initiatives
  • Promote members through the Business Directory on-line

At YCDC we wear many hats and step up to help businesses, investors and our community with whatever they need. As a one-stop-shop for economic development we are active, involved and always present.

Thank you to everyone in the community who has supported, and continues to support, our efforts. We couldn’t do it without you!
