Become a Stakeholder in YCDC and Shape the Future of York County in 2025
November 6, 2024
The York County Development Corporation (YCDC) is made possible through community investment. Stakeholders across all industries buy into YCDC and direct its efforts throughout the year. Whether you are an entrepreneur getting a new business off the ground or an enterprise executive, you have a voice in YCDC.
“Your support is the backbone of everything we do,” says Lisa Hurley, Executive Director of YCDC. “From expanding workforce development to attracting new businesses, your
investment has enabled us to advance crucial initiatives that contribute to the vibrancy and
resilience of our community.”
If you are undecided about becoming a stakeholder, learn where your investment goes. Your contribution can help you grow York County while your ideas and opinions actively direct our organizational initiatives. Here are three ways we prove the value of your investment.
YCDC is Committed to a 5-Part, 5-Year Strategic Plan
As a stakeholder-driven business, YCDC is committed to transparency in all of its efforts, goals, and programs. When you become a stakeholder, you can help YCDC address five key goals that can improve York County. These are the five key tenants of YCDC’s five-year plan:
- Talent: YCDC is committed to meeting York County’s workforce needs through talent development, acquisition, and retention.
- Business: YCDC highlights available land for business expansion and recruitment, while also supporting existing businesses and entrepreneurial enterprises in York County.
- Housing: YCDC works to increase the number of quality housing units in York County, fostering population growth.
- Infrastructure: YCDC works alongside the local government to support large-scale infrastructure investments.
- Organization: YCDC strives to be a high-performing economic development organization that leaves a positive long-term impact on the community.
If any of these areas of focus speak to your needs, whether your business struggles with recruitment or you need infrastructure improvements, join YCDC. Your investment can help us achieve your goals.
YCDC Attracts Repeat Visitors to Its Website
When you become a stakeholder in YCDC, a portion of your contribution goes toward marketing York County on a national – and even international – level. These efforts bring site selectors and businesses to the region, potentially expanding employment opportunities for residents. Businesses also benefit from new organizations in York County. Your future suppliers, vendors, or customers could move in next year.
“Our goal at YCDC is to maximize the ROI of our marketing efforts,” says Hurley. “Not only do we want to reach a large number of people, but we want to make sure we are connecting with quality audiences.”
One reflection of that is the website traffic of Yorkdevco.com. The site had 27,750 users but 92,262 views in 2024. This highlights how many of the users were repeat visitors who expressed genuine interest in York County. The Business Directory and Jobs Directory remain top-viewed pages on our website.
YCDC also updated its website in 2024, making it easier to use and more valuable to residents, business owners, and site selectors.
YCDC Understands the Different Elements That Support Development
Economic development often focuses on the tangible business aspects of growth. While YCDC certainly focuses on site development, utilities, infrastructure, taxes, and workforce development, this organization also sees the other elements that contribute to a community’s growth.
For example, a 2021 Housing Study found York County needs 542 additional units by 2030. Attracting talent to the area won’t be easy if there’s nowhere to house new residents. Other economic development aspects include access to childcare, good schools for families, and quality of life contributions that make York County a great place to live.
“Sustainable economic growth in York County starts with building a healthy community,” says Hurley. “It’s about supporting everyone—parents, kids, and young adults alike. “Our approach is simple: people come first, jobs come second.”
