Why York County: Empowering York County: Workforce Development, Retail, Collaboration, and Agricultural Growth
February 13, 2025
At York County Development Corporation (YCDC), our mission is to strengthen economic growth by fostering opportunities for businesses, workers, and local communities. This month, we’re proud to highlight several key initiatives that reinforce our commitment to workforce development and economic growth through regional collaboration.
Connecting Talent with Opportunity Through CareerPathway.com
One of our primary goals is ensuring that York County residents have access to the tools they need to succeed in today’s job market. That’s why we’ve partnered with CareerPathway.com, an innovative platform that helps job seekers, students, and employers connect with career and education resources. To help the community maximize this tool, YCDC has invited CareerPathway.com to present on March 26th at 11:30 AM. This session is open to businesses, job seekers, students, and individuals interested in career development. Stay tuned for more details on our website and in upcoming emails.
This online tool provides a seamless way for individuals to explore career pathways, discover local job opportunities, and find the educational programs needed to advance in their chosen fields. By partnering with CareerPathway.com, YCDC is making it easier for York County residents to access career planning resources, helping our businesses attract the right talent, and ensuring that our workforce remains competitive in an ever-evolving economy.
This initiative is a significant step forward in our workforce development efforts, and we encourage businesses, educators, and job seekers to explore the platform and take advantage of its many benefits.
Lincoln Premium Poultry Meeting: Exploring Agricultural Growth
Agriculture remains a cornerstone of York County’s economy, and we are excited to support events that bring new opportunities to local farmers and agribusinesses. On February 18, 2025 10AM, YCDC will host an informational meeting at the Holthus Convention Center about the opportunity to grow poultry for Lincoln Premium Poultry, Costco’s dedicated poultry partner.
This event, organized by AFAN (Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska) and regional agricultural groups, will provide valuable insights into financial and contract details, as well as the unique benefits of partnering with Lincoln Premium Poultry. Farmers and agri-business professionals interested in diversifying their operations are encouraged to attend and learn more about this potential opportunity. These types of meetings are vital to our agricultural community, ensuring that York County remains at the forefront of innovation and sustainability in the ag sector. In line with our commitment to bolstering local businesses and enhancing York County's retail landscape, YCDC is coordinating meetings for the City of York with Retail Coach for their site visit on February 26th. At 11:30 there will be a meeting for property owners and interested stakeholders. This gathering aims to discuss strategies for supporting existing retail businesses and attracting new ones to our community. We will delve into topics such as property utilization, desires, and collaborative efforts to create a thriving retail environment. If you are interested in retail development and sharing what you would like to see in York, please attend. We will be reaching out to real estate agents and brokers, as well as other leaders for meetings that day as well. If you're interested in retail development in York and want to share your ideas, join us at McLean Beef (3208 S Lincoln Ave, York, NE 68467). We’d love to hear your input!
