Groundbreaking Ceremony to Mark Housing Relocation Project in Bradshaw
March 5, 2025
Bradshaw, Nebraska – The small town of Bradshaw, Nebraska, is about to see a significant change in its housing landscape, thanks to a groundbreaking project spearheaded by local developer Brandon Skelton. On March 17, 2025, at 3:00 PM on West Fulton Street in Bradshaw, the community will gather for a ceremonial groundbreaking to mark the beginning of a project that will bring seven homes from York General Hospital to Bradshaw, helping meet the area's growing housing needs.
This unique initiative, which has been in the works for several months, was made possible through a partnership between Skelton, the Village of Bradshaw, York General Hospital, York County Development Corporation (YCDC), and Midwest Bank. The project involves relocating several homes that once served as housing near the hospital to the Bradshaw community. The homes are being carefully moved to ensure they create fantastic living opportunities for residents.
The idea to repurpose the homes came after York General Hospital announced plans for renovations that would result in the demolition of several owned residences. Recognizing the potential for these homes to serve the needs of another community, Skelton stepped in to negotiate a deal that would allow the homes to be relocated to Bradshaw.
“I want to take a moment to acknowledge all the incredible contractors and partners involved in this project,” said Skelton, the developer behind the project. “Without their dedication and hard work, this vision would not have been possible. I’d also like to dedicate this project to my grandfather, Norbert Groser, a lifelong resident of Waco Nebraska. He taught me the value of determination and showed me what hard work can accomplish. This endeavor is the result of many people coming together to make sure homes are not lost, but instead, continue to serve the community with much needed housing. I am honored to be a part of this initiative, and I believe it will have a lasting impact on Bradshaw and the surrounding area.”
Skelton's vision was supported by a powerful partnership with the York County Development Corporation (YCDC), which has been instrumental in securing the necessary resources to make this project a reality. Lisa Hurley, the director of YCDC, emphasized the importance of the project for the local economy and community.
“This initiative is a perfect example of how partnerships can lead to long-term success,” Hurley said. “By collaborating with local businesses, organizations like York General Hospital, and financial institutions like Midwest Bank, we’re not just addressing a housing need; we’re revitalizing Bradshaw and contributing to its future growth.”
Midwest Bank also played a critical role, providing financial support to ensure the project was both feasible and sustainable. Barry Redfern worked diligently with Skelton and this project would not have come to fruition without their strong partnership.
"This housing project represents a groundbreaking leap forward, marking the most substantial growth in years and showcasing an initiative that is truly inspiring. We are excited to see this all come together." Stephanie Metzger, Village of Bradshaw clerk stated when asked about the project.
The groundbreaking ceremony, which will take place on March 17 at 3:00 PM, will offer an opportunity for the Bradshaw community and stakeholders to come together and celebrate the start of this transformative project.
Any stakeholders or partners are invited to attend the ceremony and learn more about how this project is shaping the future of their town.
