Responsibilities

The Communications Director is responsible for directing the overall management of the York County PSAP. Directs a Next Generation 9-1-1 emergency telephone system and consolidated emergency communications center responsible for dispatching all local law enforcement, fire, and medical services (EMS) within York County. Responsible for the maintenance of all communications equipment and the coordination for integration of telephone, computer, and radio systems. Responsible for all administrative functions of the PSAP. This includes all financial and personnel management, and the supervision of communications personnel and preparation/administration of the communications budget. The Director is a trained CTO and acts as the agency’s CTO Coordinator. The Director is responsible for representing the agency’s TAC and LASO. The Director is highly knowledgeable of and adheres to the terms of the York County PSAP Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) manual and management in developing new policy/procedure and keeping it current. Demonstrates strong leadership and management abilities. Endorses a team environment.

Qualifications

Experience as a public safety telecommunicator; Supervisory experience; Possess an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field of study or complete an advanced public safety leadership course, such as NENA Center Manager Certification Program (CMCP), NENA Emergency Number Professional (ENP) or APCO Registered Public-Safety Leader (RPL) within first year of promotion.
