The York County Sheriff's Department is currently staffed by 24 full-time employees including patrol, clerks, and corrections. The York County Sheriff's Office prides itself in providing its correctional staff with state of the art equipment and an employee-friendly work environment.

Responsibilities

Shifts can vary but most are 12-hour shifts (7:00am - 7:00pm, or 7:00pm - 7:00am) with every other weekend off. 

Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays. 

Responsible for the daily care of the county jail and all inmates; recording all inmate files, paperwork, and documents; inmate booking procedures, photographing, finger printing, searching, along with cash and property inventory. 

And other tasks.

Qualifications

Must be 19 years or older. 

Must be authorized to work in the United States. 

Must be able to pass a criminal background check. 

Must complete Basic Jail School at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center in Grand Island, Nebraska within one (1) year of employment. 

This is paid for by the York County Sheriff's Department.
