The City of York is accepting applications for the position of city treasurer.

Responsibilities

The city treasurer is involved in direct planning, implementation, and maintenance of accounting and investment systems, and the receipt and disbursement of all city funds. 

This position participates in planning and development of long-range capital improvement programs and has responsibility for planning, development, and coordination of long-term debt financing programs.  

The city treasurer is also responsible for the direct preparation of the budget for review and adoption; projections of revenue estimates and expenditures; and preparation of bond issues and offerings. 

Work is performed under the general direction of the city administration with the employee exercising considerable independent judgment in the planning and execution of duties. 

Qualifications

The successful applicant should have general knowledge of state statutory requirements for first class cities, ability to maintain confidentiality, good organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite products.  

Education:  A degree or certification in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field is required. CPA license preferred but not required.  

Experience:  Minimum five years of related experience in accounting or finance, minimum three years at a managerial level, or any equivalent combination of training and experience deemed to be sufficient for the position.
