Progress continues at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in York, and recent activity at the site highlighted more than just construction milestones—it underscored the power of regional collaboration and shared learning.

In early January, York County Development Corporation (YCDC) welcomed Jonathan Jank and other leaders from Seward County for a tour of the Fairfield Inn & Suites construction site. The visit came after Seward leaders reached out to YCDC to learn more about hotel development and how projects like this take shape in communities across the region.

YCDC worked to coordinate the conversation and helped turn that interest into an on-site experience. When asked to host the group, developer Kishan Chaudhari graciously opened the doors and shared insight into the project’s journey, from early planning to construction and beyond.

“It was a great opportunity to talk openly about how these projects start, evolve, and ultimately support business growth, workforce needs, and quality of life,” said Lisa Hurley, Executive Director of YCDC. “These conversations are valuable not just for York County, but for the entire region.”

Construction on the Fairfield Inn & Suites is progressing well, with interior work nearing completion. The hotel is anticipated to open in late March 2026, adding a nationally recognized hospitality option that will support business travel, workforce recruitment, community events, and visitor experiences throughout York County.

The project represents a significant investment in York’s infrastructure and reflects long-term planning efforts aimed at meeting the needs of employers, residents, and visitors alike. Hotels play a critical role in economic development by supporting meetings, training, recruitment, and tourism—while also enhancing a community’s overall quality of life.

For Seward County leaders, the visit offered a firsthand look at how public and private partners work together to bring a project of this scale to life. For York County, it was another example of how collaboration extends beyond county lines.

Jonathan Jank shared his appreciation following the visit:

“We’re tremendously grateful for your welcoming spirit to share your success story around this project (Lisa, Grace, Kishan). We love to see when York County wins! We all win together.”

That sentiment captures the spirit behind the tour. When communities share ideas, open doors, and learn from one another, the entire region benefits.

YCDC is proud to serve as a convener and connector—bringing partners together, facilitating conversations, and helping tell the story of how thoughtful development strengthens our communities. As projects like the Fairfield Inn & Suites move closer to completion, they remind us that progress is built not only through investment, but through collaboration.

If you’re interested in learning more about this project, discuss opportunities, or explore to collaborate, we invite you to connect with YCDC. Together, we continue to build momentum for York County and beyond.
