York Selected for a Fairfield Inn & Suites
October 1, 2024
York, NE. September 30, 2024: The City of York is selected as the location for their next Fairfield Inn & Suites. The developer will break ground on Thursday, October 3, 2024, and anticipates an early 2026 opening. The four-story hotel will have 79 rooms, a Pool, and a Fitness center with a beautiful patio to enjoy breakfast outside.
The total project is estimated to cost $13,989,314. The investment will allow for the paved extension of Grand Avenue, the construction of a new hotel attracting additional travelers to stay in the city, provide new jobs, and generate an increase in tax revenue to support the community.
As part of the plan, Grand Avenue will be extended to the south end of the lot, and the parking is intended to be public parking, allowing visitors for other activities to utilize the parking spaces.
The City of York provided Tax Increment Financing for the developer to help build out the infrastructure in the area. Mayor Barry Redfern noted that attracting projects like the Fairfield Inn project was a key reason for updating the city’s tax increment financing areas last summer. “It is exciting to see new projects coming into the interchange area now,” he said, “We’re expecting the area to attract a mix of developments that will enhance the city for community members and visitors.”
Lisa Hurley, Executive Director of York County Development Corporation says “We are very excited to have Fairfield Inn & Suites, a Marriott Property coming to our interchange district. The diversification of our hotel properties is one component of enhancing this district for future development. We thank Kishan Chaudari, and the many partners on this project for making this investment in York and York County.”
