YCDC is a Leading Partner of the 2025 Nebraska Pork Expo
July 1, 2025
Leaders in the pork industry are headed to York County on July 9th for the 2025 Nebraska Pork Expo. This conference, part of the Alliance for the Future of Agriculture in Nebraska (AFAN), will discuss current and upcoming issues affecting pork farmers across the state. The York County Development Corporation (YCDC) is a proud partner of the event and is eager to make it a success.
“This is a great opportunity to showcase everything York County has to offer,” says Lisa Hurley, Executive Director of YCDC. “Not only will this spotlight our agriculture industry, but it will also highlight the hospitality field and the wonderful residents of York. Our local hotels and restaurants are happy to welcome expo attendees from across the state.”
The expo will be held at the Holthus Convention Center in York. Advanced registration is currently open. Learn more about the agenda and the benefits of attending the 2025 Nebraska Pork Expo.

Nebraska Ranks 6th in the Country for Pork Production
Nebraska is one of the most important pork providers in the United States. It ranks 6th in the nation for pork production, with 1,137 pig farms totalling 7.8 million pigs. Pork is a $6 billion industry in the state.
“The goal of this expo is to support pork farmers of all sizes and backgrounds because this is such a large industry in the state,” says Hurley. “Nebraska is home to multi-generational farmers with centuries of experience in pork and new farmers who are raising their first herd of pigs. Each farm, no matter its size, is responsible for feeding America.”
Nebraska has a large agricultural economy with 44,400 farms. One in four jobs in the state is tied to farming. The top five largest agricultural industries are soybeans, corn, beef, ethanol, and pork.
York County is an Ideal Place for Conferences and Expos
York County hosts several conferences and professional meetings throughout the year. It is easy to access from Lincoln and Omaha, and is also closer to the center of the state. This makes it an ideal location for meetings where people travel from all across Nebraska, not just its biggest cities.
The Holthus Convention Center can host groups of 1,100 people or small meetings with only 10 attendees. Organizations can rent the grand ballrooms for large gatherings or choose from the eleven meeting spaces based on their size needs. There are also 800 lodging rooms within five blocks of the convention center.
York continues to grow its tourism economy, which includes attracting conferences like the Nebraska Pork Expo. In 2023, York County ranked second in the state for total consumer tourism spending at $73 million, and tourism accounts for 430 local jobs. This highlights how York is an enjoyable place to visit, further amplifying the county as a desirable place for conferences and meet-ups.
